Huge congratulations to my former student, Charlotte McConaghy, (Graduate Diploma Screenwriting 2012) for her win at the 2013 Australian Writers Guild Awards held at Melbourne’s Plaza Ballroom last Friday night.
Charlotte won the Monte Miller Award: Long Form for Best unproduced script for her TV pilot FURY – which she developed as part of her course work in the Graduate Diploma in Screenwriting at AFTRS in 2012.
Charlotte follows in the footsteps of other recent screenwriting graduates who, over the four years I have been Head of Department, have notched up multiple and consecutive nominations in the best unproduced screenplay category at the AWGIES including:
2010: Jonathan Empson for CHROME
2011: Laura Greaves for GIFTED
2012: Claire Phillips for THE BOX
2013: Jessica Paine for THE KNOT
