I had the great honour of being invited to consult with participants of Screen Queensland’s innovative, script development program, Writers’ Room. Five Queensland writers, (Steve Pratt, Brooke Wilson, Matthew Ryan, Timothy Wade and James Greville), picked from over 100 applications, in a one-of-its-kind program, received $40,000 funding for one year to build their writing skills, in a collaborative workshop environment, and produce a script ready to market to producers at the end of the program.
Working alongside Screen Queensland’s development team of Natalie Lindwall and Jock Blair, I spent an intense session helping clarify what each of the writers was trying to say with their project. It was tough and very rewarding work, with all of us having breakthroughs by the end of the day.
