Along side Seph McKenna, Head of Australian Production and Acquisition for Roadshow Films and Richard Sheffield, Head of Film Acquisitions for domestic distributor Pinnacle Films, I took part in a series of mentoring sessions with Queensland filmmakers whose films screened as part of the Gold Coast Film Festival’s Queensland Showcase:
• producer/director team of Ben and Paul China whose film CRAWL won 3 awards at its world premiere at Screamfest in Los Angeles.
• Melissa Veerhuis and Andre Seager (director) whose teenage drama DARTWORTH had its Australian Premiere at this year’s festival.
• Rita Artmann (producer) and Joe Bauer (writer/director/actor) whose funny, low-budget, indie, horror/comedy also had its Australian Premiere at this year’s festival.
Update December 18, 2012: Ben and Paul China’s new screenplay, SWEET VIRGINIA, has landed on Hollywood’s Black List of best unproduced screenplays. To find our more click the link below:
